10 Essential tips for a planning your successful study abroad Journey

Each year hundreds of thousands of students take their 10+2 (or National Education Board) or Bachelor degree final year examination and start the test preparation followed by university and visa application process for studying abroad in the country of choice.

It is normal to have some confusion as a student applying abroad, given the huge number of programs in different destination country in addition to the fact that each university or college has it’s own application process as well as each country has its own visa application process in addition to different post study work possibilities.

Some students really get good scholarships at good universities. A majority of students often end up enrolling for the programs which they were not really interested. 1. Choosing the right degree program in the destination country

Before choosing the right degree program, you must figure out on your own what you are really interested to study. You will need to ask yourself the following questions in order to know what you want to study.

a) What do I want to become?
b) Where do I want to see myself in the next 5-10 years?
c) What subject or program will lead me to be the person I want to be?

It is important that you choose a course which as moderate tuition and choose a city which is affordable for you in terms of living cost. Choosing a course beyond your affordability cannot be financed part time which will lead you to change universities or courses or come back to Nepal.

b) Opportunities for part time jobs during your studies
Having an opportunity to work part time during your studies not only helps you to earn some pocket money but also helps you in gaining an experience of work place and becoming more confident in handling situation which may arrive in your career.

c) Post study work or long term settlement opportunities
When applying for studying abroad, it is very likely that you consider post study work or long term settlement opportunities upon the completion of your studies abroad. If you are looking for long term settlement, you have to look for countries which offer post study work leading to permanent residency.

d) Recognition of qualification upon return to your home country
In some cases, the qualifications gained abroad may not be recognized in Nepal or there may be bureaucratic hurdles in getting your qualifications recognized in Nepal.
